Neither team has really had the season they had hoped for: Texas was 4-0 before losing a close one to a then-undefeated West Virginia team, but then got absolutely blown out by Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout. The Longhorns' defense has been the problem: David Ash has the offense looking alright, scoring 44.4 points per game - sixth in the nation - and completing 70.2 percent of his passes, but they've given up 48 or more points in each of the last three games and only held their opponents under 30 twice.
As for Kansas, things keep getting worse for Charlie Weis’ squad. They’re 1-6, having lost every game since a season-opening win over South Dakota State. Despite the bad season, this past week’s 45-point loss to Oklahoma was their biggest defeat to date.
Texas can stay alive in the race for the Big 12 Championship with a win, but a loss would be bad for a team that’s had a rough start to their conference schedule.
