USC vs. Utah 2012 final score: Trojans roar back, blow out Utes behind Barkley, Lee, 38-28

The Trojans’ offense got rolling after a shaky start to dispatch of the Utes behind an offensive explosion by two of their stars

After falling behind early in the first quarter, the USC Trojans outscored the Utah Utes 38-14 over the final 57 minutes of the game to cruise to a 38-28 win over the Utes at Utah in a battle of Pac-12 teams.

The Utes fall to 0-2 in their first year in the Pac-12, 2-3 overall, and the Trojans are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-12, with their loss coming to the Stanford Cardinal.

The Trojans were led by quarterback Matt Barkley's 303 yards and three touchdowns and wide receiver Marqise Lee's 12 receptions for 192 yards and a touchdown.

It didn’t look good early, as the Trojans fell behind 14-0 in the first three minutes of the game after two exchanges between quarterback and center went awry, leading to a defensive touchdown and a short offensive touchdown for the Utes.

But the Trojans finally settled down and once they got rolling, the Utes couldn’t stop them.

Box Score Hero: Matt Barkley shook off the offense’s slow start to put up a monster game with 303 yards on 23-of-30 passing with three touchdowns. But shout out to Marquise Lee’s 192 yards on 12 receptions with one touchdown. Barkley doesn’t have his game without him.

Rankings Ramifications: USC’s move up the rankings will be determined by what happens above them, but they won’t drop anywhere. Only way is up and things could align to find the Trojans back in the top 10.

But Did They Cover?: The Trojans, 14-point favorites heading into the game, did not cover the spread.

Next Week’s Schedule: The Trojans visit No. 23 Washington and the Utes travel to No. 25 UCLA.
