Casey Pachall entering rehab, will not play at TCU for rest of 2012

Suspended TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Casey Pachall's football season is done, coach Gary Patterson announced Tuesday. He's "disenrolling" from the school entirely and is entering an in-patient care facility, said Patterson, following a DWI arrest last week. Patterson added that Pachall might already be at the facility.

The door is open for the two-year starter to return in 2013, said the coach.

Pachall’s DWI arrest followed a failed drug test and his admitted use of cocaine and ecstacy earlier this year. He’s also the latest Frog to be sidelined by off-field matters. TCU has dealt with arrests, suspensions, injuries and transfers aplenty since announcing their move to the Big 12 for 2012.

Monday, the Star-Telegram reported that former high school teammate Kenny Vaccaro had said Pachall planned to “take some time off,” away from football. Patterson had initially indicated the length of Pachall’s suspension remained up in the air.

Without him, TCU was upset by Iowa State on Saturday. Backup Trevone Boykin gained 309 total yards, but threw three interceptions.
