Casey Pachall returns to TCU after DWI suspension

Now that quarterback Casey Pachall has gotten treatment for his substance abuse problem, he is being welcomed back to the TCU football program.

Former TCU quarterback Casey Pachall is back with the Horned Frogs program, according to head coach Gary Patterson. Pachall left TCU in October to seek treatment for a substance abuse problem, and he will be in school when classes resume on Monday.

“[Pachall] looks great,” Patterson said. “It’s like he looked when he was a freshman. Right now, we feel really good about this. It’s never going to be 100 percent perfect but there is a chance we did the right thing and made a difference.”

He was arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Oct. 4 of last year, and was suspended indefinitely by Patterson. Pachall also failed a school-administered drug test last February. Those issues prompted him to withdraw from school and seek treatment, with the understanding that he could potentially return to TCU upon successful completion of the inpatient program.

Pachall appeared in six games for the Horned Frogs last season, completing 66 percent of his throws for 948 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception.
