A strong running game and a standout receiver proved to be too much for the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

The Ohio University Bobcats proved to be too much for the Eastern Michigan Eagles as they leaned on a strong running game, paired with an efficient passing game, to win by a margin of 45-14.

A first quarter that saw both opponents throw touchdowns gave way to a second where the Bobcats were able to open up the floodgates. Quarterback Tyler Tettleton threw two of his three touchdowns, and Matt Weller added a field goal to open up a 24-14 lead heading into halftime.

Eastern Michigan struggled with the passing game, particularly on third down where the Eagles managed to convert only 40 percent of their attempts. QB Tyler Benz was unable to get settled, completing just nine passes on the game for 138 yards. Meanwhile, the defense got the better of EMU's signal caller, and he was unable to get into a rhythm throughout the game. Bronson Hill did what he could to keep the Eagles in the game, but even a 121-yard rushing game wasn't enough.

Box Score Hero:

Ohio receiver Donte Foster had a stellar game through the air as the caught seven passes for 164 yards, and two touchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications:

Last week the Ohio Bobcats fell out of the rankings following their loss to Miami (OH). Despite the setback, they did get votes in the AP, USA Today, and ESPN polls. There is a slim chance voters could look favorably on the now 8-1 team.

But Did They Cover?

Ohio entered the game 17-point favorites, and covered the spread with their 31-point victory.

Next Week’s Schedule:

The Eastern Michigan Eagles now host Central Michigan Nov. 10

The Ohio University Bobcats host Bowling Green Nov. 7
