NCAA was selling gear from every school but Penn State

Matt McGloin’s national anti-Penn State conspiracy theory gains credence, maybe? Update: It’s either on purpose or it’s not! Update 2: Penn State’s back in there now.

The NCAA’s official online store has a list of merchandise links for every school in the country, or darn close to it, with no Penn State anywhere to be found. Unless Mark Emmert banned the Nittany Lions from way more than just the football postseason, that’s a ... that’s quite a coincidence!

You can get a Pennsylvania Quakers hat, a William Penn shirt, an Indiana University of Pennsylvania bib or a California University of Pennsylvania bottle opener, but nothing Penn State. Temple and Pitt stuff remains, too.

PSU doesn’t appear in the “Top 100 Teams” list either, despite being one of the top 10 teams in the country in athletic department revenue and undeniably one of the top 20 in any other popularity metric.

And if this is some weird (and maybe unintended) by-product of punishment for the football program, why not sell Penn State basketball or wrestling stuff?

Try it out for yourself! Head to NCAA.com, then click SHOP. From there, click View All NCAA Teams.
