Arkansas reportedly targeting Bo Pelini

The Arkansas coaching search could be turning to Nebraska’s Bo Pelini, according to a report.

Bruce Thorson-US PRESSWIRE

The Arkansas Razorbacks could be looking at Nebraska's Bo Pelini as a potential full-time replacement for Bobby Petrino, according to a report by Football Scoop. Petrino was replaced by John L. Smith for the 2012 season, but the school has been searching for a full time replacement for months now. Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long has not yet reached out to Pelini yet.

2012 was supposed to be the year Arkansas challenged for the SEC title, but the dismissal of Petrino has put the program in turmoil, and has led to the team facing an uphill battle just to become bowl eligible.

Pelini has some history in the SEC, as he was the defensive coordinator at LSU from 2005-2007 under Les Miles. His defenses were ranked third in the nation during each of his three seasons in Baton Rouge. He’s been the head coach in Lincoln for five seasons, and has compiled a 47-18 record with the Cornhuskers. Pelini has won 10+ games twice, and could do it for the third time in 2012.
