A decision on the future of Cal head coach Jeff Tedford could come down as soon as this weekend. Athletics director Sandy Barbour could meet with Tedford as soon as Sunday, according to Jeff Faurado of the Contra Costa Times. The Golden Bears play their final game of the season at Oregon State on Saturday.

Cal has struggled to a 3-8 record on the year and has lost four straight games heading into their season finale. The Golden Bears will miss a bowl game for the second time in three years.

Tedford has been leading Cal’s football program since 2002. The Golden Bears reached a bowl in his first eight seasons as coach and have finished with 10 wins twice in his tenure. Cal’s best season under Tedford came in 2004, when the team ended the year 10-2 and No. 9 in the final rankings. That was the first of three straight seasons in which Cal finished in the top 25, culminating in a 2006 Holiday Bowl win.
