The junior from St. Paul’s De La Salle High School was leading Minnesota in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, when he suffered a sprained ankle in the Gophers’ Oct. 27 win over Purdue. In November, Barker claimed head coach Jerry Kill mismanaged his injury, refusing to allow trainers to conduct an MRI and berating him during his rehabilitation. He later claimed that Kill was attempting to “manipulate” him mentally and emotionally. It was this alleged abuse that led to Barker’s transfer.
Barker has not been offered a scholarship by Houston, and is not listed on the team’s roster:
