The 2012 edition of the Iron Bowl looks to be a bit of a lopsided one, but the Auburn Tigers will look to put a wrench in the Alabama Crimson Tide's hopes of repeating as national champions when the two bitter rivals meet Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
Iron Bowl 2012 preview, TV schedule, odds: Alabama-Auburn not an even fight
Alabama and Auburn always has added significance, but the Crimson Tide are five-touchdown favorites in their Iron Bowl matchup. A win puts Alabama into the SEC Championship game and could end Gene Chizik’s time at Auburn.

Entering the season finale, Alabama and Auburn couldn't be heading in different directions. Alabama is 10-1 on the season and despite a disappointing loss to Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M, they're still No. 2 in the country thanks to losses last week by Kansas State and Oregon. The Tide still have a championship game appearance in their sights if they can win out. Winning Saturday guarantees their spot in the SEC Championship Game, and winning there would all but assure them a trip to Miami to try to take a second national title in as many years.
Meanwhile, for Auburn, each week has made a bad season worse. They’re now 0-7 in conference play and have been on the wrong end of some blowout losses. This week, it was confirmed that the NCAA is probing Auburn for potential violations. A loss to Alabama will likely be the final game of Gene Chizik’s tenure, and a win in Bryant-Denny Stadium would be an absolute miracle.
