Jeff Driskel is neat, bum ankle and all

Despite an ankle sprain that kept the Florida QB out against Jacksonville State, he’s mobile and making plays against the Florida State Seminoles.

After practicing on Thursday, Jeff Driskel was given the green light to start against Florida State in a game with serious bowl game implications on top of the already heavy rivalry vibes. Driskel missed last week’s game against Jacksonville State with a right ankle sprain.

What the sophomore can do with his legs is change directions and make the Seminoles pay for overpursuing or taking bad angles. Plus, by avoiding pressure, it gives receivers time to redirect their routes on broken plays. That extra time is critical against a hungry and attacking FSU front seven that ranks among the best in the nation.

While the Florida quarterback isn’t fully healthy and definitely has shown some ill effects from the ankle injury, he already has a couple highlights, including this 31-yard run.

Driskel also started the game 8 for 11 on the Gators’ first two drives, relying mostly on short throws and screens, although he did just miss a wide open receiver on a streak on Florida’s first drive.
