Baylor vs. Texas Tech 2012 results: Bears bowl-eligible with overtime win, 52-45

Nick Florence led the Bears with 396 yards passing, 51 yards rushing and four combined touchdowns.

The Big 12 game between two of the nation's most explosive offenses didn't disappoint on Saturday, as the Baylor Bears needed overtime to beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 52-45.

After trading scores throughout the game, including 55 combined points in the second half, Baylor’s Aaron Jones missed what would have been a game-winning field goal as time in regulation expired. The missed field goal forced overtime, but the Bears wasted little time taking care of business.

Baylor took the ball on offense first and didn't throw a single pass in the overtime period as four consecutive run plays ended with a 4-yard rushing touchdown for Glasco Martin to give the Bears a 52-45 lead. The Red Raiders were then unable to convert a fourth down and turned the ball over on downs to end the game.

With the win, Baylor is now bowl-eligible with one more game left to play, a designation already earned by Texas Tech earlier in the season.

Box Score Hero: The Baylor offense has certainly been explosive at times in 2012 and leading the way for these explosive performances has been Florence. The Bears quarterback finished with 396 yards passing and three touchdowns along with 51 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.

Rankings Ramifications: Both teams have had stints in the rankings, but neither entered the game ranked. Baylor earned a single vote in the latest AP Top 25, but is unlikely to move in to the rankings with the victory.

But Did They Cover? Baylor was a 3-point favorite by some sportsbooks, but a 3.5-point favorite according to many others.
