Vanderbilt vs. Wake Forest 2012 final score: Commodores win easily, 55-21

The Commodores got to eight wins for the first time since 1982 on Saturday.

The Vanderbilt Commodores capped their regular season off with a 55-21 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday. The win was the sixth straight for Vandy and brought the team's win total to eight, a rarity for the program. Wake Forest falls one win short of bowl eligibility at 5-7.

The two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter, but it was all Vanderbilt from that point. The Commodores used three second-quarter touchdowns to blow the game open, including a 64-yard touchdown strike from Jordan Rogers to Jordan Matthews.

Vandy continued to pile on with special teams in the second half. The Commodores blocked a Wake Forest punt for a touchdown to put the score at 35-7 to open the third quarter, then Jonathan Krause took a punt back 83 yards for a touchdown.

Zac Stacy would cap off the scoring on Vanderbilt's next possession with a 90-yard dash to the endzone.

Box Score Hero: Stacy tallied 180 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just 21 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: Vandy isn’t ranked, but did receive votes in both major polls. This dominant win will likely earn them more and possibly get them into the top 25.

But Did They Cover? Vandy had no problems covering, as the team was favored by 13.
