The search for Tom O’Brien’s replacement at N.C. State could come down to Chad Morris and Sonny Dykes. Both interviewed for the position on Wednesday, reports Travis Sawchik of the Charleston Post & Courier, and Dykes is said to be at the top of N.C. State’s wishlist.
N.C. State coaching search down to Sonny Dykes, Chad Morris?
The search for a new N.C. State head coach is reportedly down to two candidates: Sonny Dykes and Chad Morris.

This echoes earlier reports, which had Chad Morris as "a strong candidate." Morris is currently the offensive coordinator for the Clemson Tigers, and he has shaped Tajh Boyd, DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins into a top-10 offense.
Dykes is the current head coach of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. After a losing season in his first year at the helm, Dykes has worked his way to a 22-15 record in his three years with the team. Louisiana Tech made noise this year when they nearly upset the Texas A&M Aggies, losing 59-57.
Dykes’ resume is heavy on the offensive side of the ball, so if Dykes and Morris are the final two candidates, N.C. State appears to be leaning towards rebuilding the program with an emphasis on firepower. The Wolfpack averaged 28.4 points per game this year, 71st among FBS schools.
