After breaking his non-throwing wrist last Saturday against Connecticut, Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to be in action on Thursday night against Rutgers for the 2012 Big East championship.

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will suit up on Thursday despite wrist and ankle injuries, but will not be permitted to take snaps from under center.

Due to the fact that his injury limits his ability to receive a snap, the 6'3 sophomore will play exclusively in shotgun formations while backup Will Stein will enter the game to take any snaps from under center, coach Charlie Strong said, reported Card Chronicle. And though his sprained ankle is also expected to adversely affect his mobility in the pocket against a blitz-heavy Rutgers defense, Bridgewater still convinced his coach that he's fit enough to get on the field.
“He says he can play, we’re going to let him play,” said Strong. “Teddy is very tough and is a competitor and we know we’ll be able to go with him.”
The Cardinals only plan to bring two quarterbacks into Thursday’s championship game and would be forced to use one of their receivers at the position if injuries happen to intervene. After attempting 102 passes over his last two games, Bridgewater should have every opportunity to air it out with a trip to a BCS bowl on the line.
