Ole Miss vs. Georgia 2012 final score: Dawgs move within one step of SEC title game

Georgia handled Ole Miss in yet another sloppy game, needing only to beat one of the worst Auburn teams ever in order to reach the SEC Championship Game for the second year in a row. FIRE MARK RICHT!

The Georgia Bulldogs overcame a hideous first half and an early 10-0 deficit to knock off Ole Miss, 37-14. How hideous? At one point there were four turnovers in 60 seconds of game time. No, seriously. Ole Miss also sacked Aaron Murray five times.

It’s a way of life for the Dawgs, who rode six takeaways a week earlier to a win over Florida.

Box score hero: We'll go with Aaron Murray -- though he's yet to come up big against an elite opponent, he's still managed to mangle most of the poorer opponents the Dawgs have faced. Today was a 384-yard, four-touchdown day.

Rankings ramifications: Things could get mighty nice in a hurry for the No. 5 Bulldogs. No. 3 Notre Dame’s on the ropes, and No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Kansas State and No. 4 Oregon all have very tough challenges ahead of them on the night.

But did they cover? UGA was favored by two touchdowns. So yes.

Next week: The Dawgs can sew up the SEC East (and likely conclude Gene Chizik’s Auburn career), while Ole Miss draws a tough Vandy squad in Nashville.
