The Wall Street Journal has an interesting infographic map (infomaphic) on polling the election battleground states for their college football allegiances. Go look at it, and then let’s talk about some things.

- In no way does Southern Miss have more fans than Ole Miss, but Rebels fans might have mistaken both donkeys and elephants for rejected mascots.
- Temple has many black fans. The only Temple fan you’ve ever heard of does not alter your perception at all here.
- UCLA is not twice as popular as USC. Lane Kiffin’s just done a better job of forbidding reporters from talking to his fans than Jim Mora has.
- Wake Forest is either fictional or attended mostly by anarchists.
- Baylor is bigger among Democrats and Hispanics than it is among Republicans. Huh!
- Otherwise, Texas lines up exactly how you’d think.
- The most dramatic cultural clash in the country: BYU vs. Utah, where more than half of each fanbase also locks horns over politics. /MUSS RUSHES THE VOTING BOOTH GO UUUUTES
- Women like Florida State, which was known as Florida State College for Women until 1947.
- Georgia three times as popular as Georgia Tech, though, with the gap widening as age brackets go down? As an Atlantan, I’ll accept that.
- Oregon Republicans prefer Oregon State, whose rival is powered by the biggest global megacorporation in sports. That must feel weird sometimes!
- And, most importantly,Bama’s a buncha liberals.
