BYU-Virginia agree to football series in 2013-14

BYU and Virginia will face off in 2013 and 2014.

Geoff Burke

The BYU Cougars and Virginia Cavaliers have agreed to a home-and-home series to be played in 2013 and 2014. The first game will take place in Charlottesville, Va., according to Brett McMurphy of ESPN. The two schools have met three previous times on the football field, with the most recent contest coming in 2000. A date has not been announced for either game.

The addition of Virginia to BYU’s schedule means they now have 12 opponents for 2013. The Cougars are independent and will face five BCS-conference schools (Washington State, Texas, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Virginia), as well as Notre Dame and Boise State. BYU does travel to Hawaii, so a 13th game is possible.

BYU was the final piece of the 2013 puzzle for Virginia, who also faces Penn State, Virginia Military Institute and Ball State in its non-conference slate.

BYU is 5-4 on the year, while Virginia is just 3-6.
