Cincinnati vs. UConn results: Bearcats earn share of Big East title

The Cincinnati Bearcats earned a piece of the Big East title with a 34-17 win over the host UConn Huskies on Saturday.

The Cincinnati Bearcats outscored the UConn Huskies 13-0 in the fourth quarter on Saturday to blow open a tight game and win 34-17 in East Hartford, CT. With the victory, the Bearcats clinched at least a piece of the Big East title, along with Louisville, Rutgers, and Syracuse.

Brendon Kay improved to 3-1 as starter since taking over for Munchie Legaux at quarterback for Cincinnati. Kay completed 19 of 29 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday, and even caught a touchdown pass on a trick play courtesy of Travis Kelce. The tight end totaled three touchdowns in the game, grabbing five passes for 69 yards.

Chandler Whitmer led the way for Connecticut at quarterback, completing 16 of 31 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown and an interception. Lyle McCombs paced the Huskies on the ground, rushing 21 times for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Box Score Hero: Kelce. Can it be anyone other than the tight end who caught two touchdown passes and also threw a touchdown pass?

Rankings Ramifications: Cincinnati, ranked No. 21 entering the game, will likely get a small bump in the rankings with the win.

But Did They Cover? The Bearcats, four point favorites, easily covered after the fourth quarter outburst.
