A 22-year-old male fell from a fourth-floor ramp at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Saturday night and is at the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Charlotte Observer reports. According to the Observer, the fan has been transported to the trauma unit of Carolina’s Medical Center with serious injuries after receiving at least some on-site treatment.
ACC Championship Game fan hospitalized after falling from stadium
A fan fell from the fourth floor of Bank America Stadium onto the grass outside the venue, suffering serious, possibly life-threatening injuries, Saturday at the ACC Championship game.
The fan fell somewhere between an estimated 40 and 60 feet from the northwest side of the stadium. The fall took place around 8:30 p.m. ET, which is just about kickoff time, according to when medics first responded to the call.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police captain WIliam Boger told the Observer the fan was walking too close to the edge and fell.
Police reported that the fan fell outside of the stadium. Identification of the fan is not yet known. It is also not known what caused the fan to fall.
The stadium is hosting the ACC Championship football game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
