Pittsburgh vs. USF 2012 results: Panthers bowl eligible after 27-3 win over Bulls

The Pittsburgh Panthers gained bowl eligibility following their 27-3 win over South Florida.

The Pittsburgh Panthers gained bowl eligibility on Saturday following their 27-3 victory of the South Florida Bulls, and should receive an invite to one the Big East's six bowl games.

The Panthers defense overwhelmed the Bulls, holding them to 115 total yards while forcing four turnovers. The Pittsburgh offense took advantage of the short field position from the turnovers, as all of their scoring drives were 50 yards or less.

Running back Ray Graham paced the Pittsburgh offense, running for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Tino Sunseri threw the ball efficiently, completing 19 of his 25 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown. Mike Shanahan received most of the targets, grabbing 9 receptions for 116 yards.

Matt Floyd had a tough day throwing the ball for USF, only throwing for 95 total yards as well as tossing three interceptions. Running back Demetris Murray also had an ineffective day, rushing for 13 yards on 12 carries.
