2012 FCS playoff results: Top seeds all advance to quarterfinals

All five seeded teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs, which will be played next weekend.

The second round of the FCS playoffs was played on Saturday, and all five seeded teams advanced to the quarterfinals, which will be played the weekend of Dec. 7. Here’s a quick recap of what happened, and who will meet in the next round. You can see an interactive playoff bracket at NCAA.com.

No. 1 North Dakota State 28 - South Dakota State 3

Wofford 23 - New Hampshire 7

The Bisons easily defeated their neighbors to the south, and they will host the Terriers in the next round at the Fargodome. For more coverage of NDSU’s win, head over to SB Nation Minnesota.

No. 5 Georgia Southern 24 - Central Arkansas 16

No. 4 Old Dominion 63 - Coastal Carolina 35

No. 3 Montana State 16 - Stony Brook 10

Sam Houston State 18 - Cal Poly 16

The Bobcats survived a close game against Stony Brook, and SB Nation New York has more on the Seawolves’ loss. MSU will meet Sam Houston State in the second round, who survived a squeaker of their own on Saturday.

Illinois State 38 - Appalachian State 37

No. 2 Eastern Washington 29 - Wagner 19

The Redbirds defeated the Mountaineers in what was the most exciting game of the day, and SB Nation Chicago has you covered for more info. SB Nation NY has more on Wagner bowing out against Eastern Washington. Illinois State will make the trip out to Cheney to take on the Eagles.
