Paul Rhoads the latest to turn down Wisconsin, according to report

Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads has reportedly told Wisconsin he is not interested in coaching the Badgers’ football team.

Kevin Jairaj-US PRESSWIRE

The Wisconsin Badgers have actively been searching for their next head football coach since Bret Bielema jumped ship for Arkansas, but Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads became the latest head man to rebuff the Badgers on Friday, according to a report from Evan Flood of 247Sports. Rhoads has ammased an uninspiring 24-26 record over four seasons with the Cyclones. Rhoads joins Miami head coach Al Golden, who recently shot down rumors by telling Wisconsin he is not interested in taking the job. The search will continues for the Badgers.

Bielema locked in a committment from current Wisconsin defensive coordinator Chris Ash to join him in Arkansas after the Badgers play in the Rose Bowl, and Wisconsin offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been linked to North Carolina State, so the Badgers are dealing with plenty of upheaval in the coaching ranks.

The staff at Badgers blog Bucky’s 5th Quarter has diligently tracked the coaching rumors, and other names to emerge for the Wisconsin head coaching job include head coach Mike Riley of Oregon State and even offensive coordinator Jay Norvell of Oklahoma.

The Badgers have already arranged for Barry Alvarez to coach the team in the Rose Bowl against Stanford on Jan. 1.
