David Fluellen, Dan Molls injuries: top Toledo players out of Potato Bowl

The Rockets will have to rely on a couple of backups if they hope to defeat Utah State this afternoon.

The Toledo Rockets are facing some serious adversity Saturday afternoon at the Potato Bowl. Matched up against the the No. 22 Utah State Aggies, UT lost two key members of its team during the first half.

David Fluellen, a junior who rushed for 1,460 yards and 13 touchdowns this past season, appeared to injure his knee and was carted off the field by the team's medical staff. Fluellen was off to a strong start, rushing the ball seven times for 38 yards. Fluellen has not officially been ruled out for the rest of the game, although his return is doubtful.

Senior linebacker Dan Molls suffered a head injury on the opening kickoff of the game. He immediately came out of the game and was being treated by the medical staff. It is not clear what kind of injury he sustained, although he also is doubtful to return.

Molls, who is regarded as a solid NFL prospect, recorded 2.5 sacks, three interceptions and was the team’s leading tackler this past season.
