2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl final score: Utah State dominates Toledo

Kerwynn Williams scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to finish with 229 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in the game as Utah State completes its best season ever.

The No. 22 Utah State Aggies earned a dominant 41-15 victory in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, defeating the Toledo Rockets with 28 points in the fourth quarter to get well out of reach in the final minutes. With the win, USU reaches 11 wins and scores only its second bowl win ever.

Prior to Saturday's loss in Boise, the Toledo offense had scored at least 24 points in all but a season-opening, overtime loss to the Arizona Wildcats. However, the Rockets struggled to find offense against Utah State and were set back further by a lower leg injury for leading rusher David Fluellen that resulted in the junior being carted to the locker room.

Utah State got out in front early with a 62-yard touchdown run by quarterback Chuckie Keeton in the first quarter and had a similar break-away run by Kerwynn Williams for 63-yards in the fourth quarter to give the Aggies a decisive lead. Williams added two more touchdowns in the final minutes to finish with 229 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in the game.

The Aggies defense allowed fewer than 50 percent of the Toledo passes to be completed and earned plenty of key stops in their own territory to keep the Rockets off the scoreboard. The sole touchdown for Toledo came with fewer than four minutes remaining when Bernard Reedy returned a kickoff 87 yards for a score.

The combination of Keeton and Williams finished with 322 yards rushing for the Aggies, while Keeton also added 227 yards through the air.
