Sam Houston State led home team Eastern Washington, 35-0, only 27 minutes into their FCS semifinal game. With a trip to play defending champ North Dakota State in the title game on the line, the blood-red EWU Eagles have powered all the way back to a one-score deficit, thanks to an onside kick, clutch defense, a quarterback change and ridiculous throw-and-catch combos like this one from Vernon Adams to Brandon Kaufman.
Eastern Washington touchdown puts Sam Houston State on full collapse alert
This sort of catch always goes pretty well for football teams that play in the state of Washington, it seems.

Their work is still cut out for them, however, with Bearkats star Tim Flanders going over 200 yards shortly after as the lead spread back to 14, with Brian Bell finally scoring SHSU’s first touchdown in two quarters.
However, anybody watching the Potato Bowl instead of this one may want to switch from blue to red for the time being.
I don’t really know whether that catch was called correctly or not -- it looked like a pick at first, and you could make a case either way -- but it sure makes this evening more interesting, so let’s roll with it.
