Boise State earned a share of the Mountain West Conference championship finishing the season with a 10-2 overall record, 7-1 in conference. The Broncos were scheduled to make this their last MWC game with plans to jump to the Big East, but with the current state of the Big East in flux, Boise State is reportedly reconsidering staying in the Mountain West.
Boise State will try to win their third consecutive Las Vegas Bowl against a Pac-12 opponent when they face Washington. While both teams boast plenty of offensive weapons, the Broncos have an edge on the defensive side of the ball. Boise State’s defense allows less than 15 points per game which currently ranks them sixth among FBS teams. After losing their first game of the season to Michigan State, the Broncos finished the season winning 10 of 11 games with just a 21-19 loss to San Diego State their only MWC loss.
The Huskies are back in bowl action for the third-straight year after an up-and-down season and a 7-5 record. Washington won four of their final five games to lock up a bowl bid. The Huskies had their late season momentum halted after letting a late lead slip away to Washington State in the Apple Cup before losing 31-28.
The two teams will play each other next year to start the season and open a renovated Husky Stadium in Seattle.
