Oregon State Beavers head coach Mike Riley says junior Cody Vaz will get the starting nod at quarterback when the team takes on the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29, according to SB Nation's own Building The Dam.

Riley had a tough choice to make, especially with Vaz and former starter Sean Mannion reportedly looking good under center as the team prepared for the showdown with the Longhorns, but Riley went with the player who seemed most ready to start.

Vaz played started four games and played in six for the Beavers this season, completing 94 of 159 passes for 1,286 yards and 11 touchdowns with one interception. Mannion, a sophomore, started eight games and completed 200 of 309 passes for 2,446 yards and 15 TDs with 13 interceptions.

Kickoff at the Alamo Bowl is slated for 6:45 p.m. ET at the Alamodome. The game will be televised on ESPN.
