The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have won five straight bowl games and will look to extend their streak to six with a win in the Russell Athletic Bowl, but it will not be easy as the team will need to defeat Logan Thomas and the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6).

Rutgers seeks its first bowl win without Greg Schiano at the helm, but will have to beat the Virginia Tech Hokies in order to do so.

While Rutgers’ impressive postseason win streak is on the line, it is new found territory for Kyle Flood, who is in his first year as the team’s head coach since Greg Schiano left for the NFL in the offseason. So far, the success has been identical as Flood led the team to a 9-3 record and a postseason appearance, which is Rutgers’ seventh in the past eight years.
The Virginia Tech Hokies aren’t that impressed by it, however, having made the postseason every single year since 1993. Frank Beamer has been in charge of the Hokies for the entirety of the streak, but he is just 8-11 in such games and this year’s team won just six games on the year.
Some of the blame could be put on Thomas, who possesses the tools but not the results. SB Nation's Hokies blog, Gobbler Country, made a case as to why Thomas, who some had as a pre-season top pick in the NFL draft, should not be the team's starting quarterback.
