2012 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl results: Arizona State overwhelms Navy in 62-28 win

The Arizona State offense attacked quickly and often, putting the game out of hand early for Navy in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday.

Behind Taylor Kelly's four touchdowns and a nearly perfect passing game, the Arizona State Sun Devils blew out the Navy Midshipmen by the score of 62-28 in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday.

Running back Marion Grice also helped in the Sun Devils' offense, rushing for 159 yards in just 14 carries while the junior found himself in the end zone alone twice. Also for Arizona State, Will Sutton proved a dominant force in the trenches, having three sacks on the day.

Box Score Hero: Kelly completed all but two of his passes, completing 17 of 19 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns. His production didn’t end there, though, as the quarterback picked up an additional 76 yards and one more touchdown in the rushing game.

But Did They Cover? As the favorites, Arizona State easily covered the 14-point spread against Navy. It happened without any threat of a backdoor cover, despite a few late touchdowns by Navy.

The Sun Devils jumped out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter and it proved to be how the game would go rest of the way, as the Navy played from behind and just didn’t have the fire power on defense to contain the Arizona State offense.

Despite falling behind early, Navy continued to do what it does well, though, in running the ball effectively. The Midshipmen rushed for 314 yards, but completed just 6 of 12 passes.
