A month ago, Texas coach Mack Brown complained about Horns opponents getting away with tweaking Texas’ traditional Hook ‘Em Horns hand sign. He soooort of had a point, since flags are often throw for, say, doing the chomp while playing against Florida or what have you, but pretty much all it did was encourage opponents to deploy the taunt as often as possible.
Oregon State player throws Horns Down hand sign in Alamo Bowl
Absolutely everybody get in on the action!
Here we have a Pac-12 team throwing a Horns Down sign. That’s Ryan Murphy of Oregon State acting like an Aggie or Sooner or whatever after running back a blocked field goal 38 yards. Excellent form, especially in the wrists.
This means it’s time for a look at Texas’ 2013 schedule. Let’s break down which opponents will or will not break out a Horns Down at some point:
- New Mexico State: Yes.
- BYU: Yes, but politely.
- Ole Miss: Yes, but politely.
- Kansas State: No.
- Iowa State: Yes, but vulgarly.
- Oklahoma: Good God yes.
- TCU: Nah. Just let Jesse Palmer do it.
- Kansas: No opportunities to do so.
- West Virginia: [expletive deleted].
- Oklahoma State: Yes.
- Texas Tech: Already started.
- Baylor: Yes, but politely.
- Bowl opponent: Yes.
