Larry Fedora latest to turn down Tennessee, according to report

UNC head coach Larry Fedora appears to have said no thanks to the Tennessee Volunteers.

North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora turned down the Tennessee job, according to a report Thursday morning. Fedora is the latest in a string of rejections that Tennessee has endured during its coaching search.

The Volunteers recently set their sights on Louisville head coach Charlie Strong, but Strong decided to stay with the Cardinals after mulling an offer. The Volunteers also showed interest in ESPN analyst Jon Gruden and Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy.

Fedora just completed his first season at UNC; the Tar Heels finished 8-4 overall and 5-3 in ACC play, and picked up a win over rival N.C. State. Prior to coming to North Carolina, Fedora was the head coach at Southern Mississippi, where he led the school to four bowl appearances and a conference title. He has a 42-23 record in five years as a head coach.

It is uncertain at this point to whom the Volunteers will turn next.
