Wofford vs. North Dakota State results: Bison keep repeat hopes alive

The Bison held off the rushing attack of the Terriers to advance to the FCS semifinals.

Defending national champion North Dakota State came away with a 14-7 win to advance to the semifinals of the FCS playoffs after a defensive-minded football game that featured plenty of running, eliminating the Wofford Terriers. Wofford ran the ball 51 times, compared to just seven passes, while NDSU passed just 18 times to 38 runs.

Each team turned the ball over twice, but the Bison managed to keep the Terriers off the board for much of the game, despite giving up more than 300 yards of total offense. In fact, Wofford outgained North Dakota State and converted three fourth down attempts against the Bison, but couldn’t convert that in to points.

With five minutes remaining in the second quarter, NDSU earned a go-ahead touchdown with a 16-yard pass from Brock Jensen to Zach Vraa. That was the last score of the game, as neither team altered the scoreboard in the second half.

Box Score Hero: The Bison ran the ball more than twice as many times as it chose to pass, and leading the way for NDSU’s running game was Sam Ojuri. The junior got North Dakota State on the board early with a touchdown and finished with 72 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Next Week’s Schedule: With the win, top-seeded NDSU advances to face Georgia Southern for a chance to advance to the FCS National Championship.
