The FCS playoffs are being whittled down quickly, as we’re already down to the final four teams.
FCS playoffs 2012 bracket: North Dakota State survives
It wasn’t easy, but top-seeded North Dakota State was able to pull out a win against a feisty Wofford team.
It was an exciting Saturday, with eight teams battling it out for a chance to keep their dreams alive. Of course, only four were successful; North Dakota St., Sam Houston St., Georgia Southern and Eastern Washington.
The top-seeded Bison of North Dakota St. were almost upset by Wofford, but were able to hold on for a 14-7 win. It was a defensive stalemate, with the winning points coming in the second quarter on a Brock Jensen touchdown pass to Zach Vraa.
No. 5 Sam Houston St. pulled off the underdog victory over second-ranked Montana State, with Brian Bell’s 254 passing yards leading the way.
On the bottom side of the bracket, Old Dominion was eliminated in a 49-35 shootout by Georgia Southern, while Eastern Washington walked away with a 51-35 win over Illinois State.
Next weekend, NDST and Georgia Southern will square off, while EWU and Sam Houston St. battle it out for the right to play in the National Championship Game.
