    The scene was the same as the prior injury for Hawaii, as Matagiese had trainers rush to his aid as they called for the backboard and carefully looked him over to assess his injury. Matagiese’s injury appeared after a hit above the shoulders, and he fell awkwardly to the ground.

    Losing both Matagiese and Hanohano is a big loss for the Warriors, as they were the top two players on the depth chart at defensive tackle.

    DT Geordon Hanohano leaves game on stretcher

    Hanohano fell to the ground after a hit that did not appear especially vicious. However, he did get hit in the head by a BYU offensive player before falling..

    The injury occurred on a running play by BYU quarterback Taysom Hill. Trainers from both teams came to Hanohano’s aid, and were checking him out while a backboard and stretcher were brought to the field. While being carted off of the field, Hanohano did raise his hand to the Hawai’i crowd to show that he was doing OK.

    That solid Cougars run defense bodes poorly for Hawai’i head coach Norm Chow, who, despite being considered an offensive mastermind by many, has failed to get the Warriors offense firing on all cylinders in 2012.
