Led by freshman Taysom Hill, the BYU Cougars blew out the Hawaii Warriors Friday, winning 47-0

With a pair of freshman leading the way offensively, BYU cruised to a 47-0 win against Hawaii on Friday.

With starting quarterback Riley Nelson out with a back injury, Hill made his first start of the season and sparked the BYU offense. He completed 12-of-21 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 143 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Hill wasn’t the only impressive freshman for BYU on Friday as freshman running back Jamaal Williams rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries. The performance was by far the best game of Williams’ young career. He ran for just six yards on one carry last week against the Boise State Broncos.
While a pair of freshmen breathed new life into the BYU offense, the Cougar defense was it’s usual dominant self. Hawaii gained just 149 total yards on offense with BYU limiting the Warriors to just 1-of-12 on third down. The Warriors averaged 1.5 yards per rushing attempt. The Cougars have now allowed 13 or less points in four of their five games this season.
With the win, BYU moved to 3-2 on the season and 3-0 at home. Hawaii fell to 1-3.

Rankings Ramifications: BYU fell out of the top 25 with back-to-back losses, but the strong showing on Friday could put the Cougars back on the top 25 radar.
