Nick Marshall could soon join Auburn Tigers
Nick Marshall announced his commitment to Auburn, but the school hasn’t yet accepted the former Georgia cornerback who spent last season as a junior college quarterback.

Marshall tweeted his college choice early Monday, but Auburn isn’t sure yet whether they’ll take him. They’ll look at his college transcripts and could add Marshall to their class in the next few days, possibly as early as Wednesday.
Marshall had been a cornerback at Georgia, but was dismissed from the school last year for an incident reportedly involving stealing. He'd appeared in 13 games in 2011, mainly on special teams. He went to Garden City Community College, where he threw for 18 touchdowns and ran for 18 more, making him a hot commodity at quarterback. He was considering Texas, but the Longhorns backed away from Marshall once it became clear Case McCoy would be allowed to return to the school.
Marshall was also considering Indiana, but chose Auburn based on his relationship with Gus Malzahn, who recruited him when he was in charge at Arkansas State. As Auburn blog College and Magnolia writes, Marshall could be used at quarterback, where they’re relatively light, but his previous SEC experience would also make him a quality cornerback.
