Playing a spring game over 1,700 miles away from home isn't something most schools would want, but that is exactly what the Army Black Knights are doing on Mar. 8, the USMA announced on Tuesday. Spring practice itself begins Feb. 12.
2013 Army spring football game headed to Texas
This will be the second-straight year the Black Knights hit the road for their annual spring game.

Of course, most programs wouldn’t have a set of guaranteed fans waiting that far away. Army will certainly have that as they play at Fort Hood Stadium in Texas.
Army also took its spring show on the road last year, staging the Black and Gold game at Fort Benning in Georgia. The players will going a little farther away from campus this time around.
The game will be a christening of sorts for Fort Hood Stadium, which opened on Oct. 19, 2012. The 5,500-seat facility is otherwise used for Fort Hood events and local high school football.
The trip to Fort Hood will be about more than just the game for the student-athletes. They will also participate in a number of training exercises that would otherwise not be available back at school.
