Bryan Bennett transferring from Oregon, according to report

Oregon backup quarterback Bryan Bennett will continue his collegiate playing career elsewhere.

Christian Petersen

Oregon Ducks backup quarterback Bryan Bennett decided to transfer, according to a report. Bennett appeared in 11 games for the Ducks in 2012, but he was playing behind Marcus Mariota, who was just a freshman. Given that fact, playing time may be the driving factor behind Bennett's departure.

Bennett completed 20-of-37 pass attempts for 211 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions this past season. He also ran for 165 yards and six scores, averaging better than 4.2 yards per carry. He appeared in eight games as a freshman in 2011, throwing for 369 yards and six scores. He also piled up 200 yards on the ground.

Bennett had offers from Pittsburgh and Boise State coming out of high school, but there’s no word yet on if those schools might be back in play now that Bennett is moving on. He was a four-star prospect in the class of 2010, according to Rivals.
