Miami and Florida State are offering James Coley the same amount of money to be offensive coordinator, but the Hurricanes might have the edge as they search for a replacement for Jedd Fisch - find out why.

Miami’s job opened up when Jedd Fisch took the Jacksonville Jaguars’ job, and they quickly offered Coley the job. According to the Miami Herald, Coley is close to taking the job.
This isn’t great news for Florida State. The Seminoles reportedly matched MIami’s monetarily, but Jimbo Fisher wouldn’t relinquish his play-calling duties to Coley, something which could cause him to flip. Coley is also a huge factor in Florida State’s recruiting, especially in talent-rich South Florida - meaning key players could flip with just a few weeks until signing day should he leave. Six of Fisher’s assistant coaches have left Florida State this offseason.
Coley has ties to the South Florida area, having begun his coaching career on the Miami high school scene, eventually taking jobs with the Dolphins under Nick Saban and at FIU. His Seminoles were tenth in the nation in scoring this past year, although as noted, Fisher called plays after Coley drew up game plans.
