Kansas State and head coach Bill Snyder have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension, the school announced Thursday. The new deal is worth a total of $14.75 million, and Snyder will make $2.75 million in 2013. His salary will escalate by $100,000 in each subsequent season.

“We are thrilled Coach Snyder has accepted this new contract and proud of the competitive improvement our team has made -- both on the field and in the classroom -- under his leadership,” athletics director John Currie wrote in a letter addressed to fans. “Coach Snyder’s daily drive, focus and energy in continuing to build the K-State football program are truly remarkable and inspirational.”

Snyder's average annual compensation over those five years is $2.95 million, which makes him the fifth-highest-paid head coach in the Big 12. Mack Brown, Mike Stoops, Gary Patterson and Mike Gundy are the only coaches in the league making more money.

Kansas State is coming off an 11-2 season that ended with a Fiesta Bowl berth.
