The Alabama Crimson Tide offensive line has totally owned the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive line to the tune of 6.4 yards per rush and 8.0 yards per play, and the front seems to be wearing down physically. First defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore injured his knee in what looked like a non-contact look and is out for the game, and now defensive tackle Louis Nix III went down and had to be assisted off the field. The good news is that it wasn't serious.
Nix's imposing figure has been the mainstay at the middle of the Irish 3-4 defense, and has helped clog things up all season long, but he hasn't really had any significant impact tonight. Nix would return and eventually make a tackle later along that offensive drive for the Tide, but Alabama would march down the field and score yet another touchdown. The Crimson Tide are dominating midway through the third quarter and the Irish defense seems to have no answers.
Louis Nix III injury: Notre Dame nose tackle hurts leg but returns
Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix injured his leg but managed to return to the national championship game. The Irish defense is getting rolled regardless by Alabama.
