How to watch Iowa State vs. Texas Tech: Preview, TV schedule, odds and more

Undefeated Texas Tech is hoping to improve to 3-0 in conference play when they face Iowa State, one of the worst teams in the Big 12. Television coverage begins at 12 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

The Red Raiders are 5-0, but they have just one win over a team with a winning record ... and that team is Texas State. Their marquee win came in the third week of the season, when they defeated TCU in an ugly Thursday night game. The Horned Frogs are 2-3 now, though, and that win has lost some of its luster. A victory for Texas Tech against the Cyclones wouldn’t prove much, but it’s a necessary one heading into a final stretch of the season that sees three out of four games against ranked teams. Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s status is unknown.

Iowa State opened the year with a 28-20 home loss to FCS opponent Northern Iowa, and have since dropped close games to Iowa and Texas (with a victory over Tulsa sandwiched in there as well). The good news for the Cyclones? Each defeat has been closer than the last, culminating in a one-point loss to the Longhorns that was aided by some questionable officiating going Texas’s way.

Rankings and records: Texas Tech is ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches’ Poll. The Red Raiders are 5-0 and 2-0 in Big 12 play while the Cyclones are 1-3 with an 0-1 conference record. Texas Tech holds an 8-3 all-time lead in the series, but the Cyclones have won two of the last three games between the schools.

Vegas: Texas Tech is a 14-point favorite, with an over/under of 56.5 points. OddsShark has more.

Weather: A high of 81 and partly cloudy.

Sam B. Richardson. Iowa State’s quarterback is a legitimate dual threat and nearly pulled off the upset of Texas last week. He has thrown for nine touchdowns this season and could give the Texas Tech secondary fits.

Texas Tech is undefeated and heading into the tougher parts of their schedule. If they wish to contend in the Big 12, this is a must-win game.

Iowa State is very possibly looking at an 0-9 conference record so a road win would be huge for their momentum moving forward.
