Oklahoma defensive tackle Jordan Phillips will miss the rest of the Sooners' season due to surgery required for a chronic back issue, head coach Bob Stoops announced Monday.

The injury comes about a week after Oklahoma lost starting linebacker Corey Nelson for the year. The Sooners defense struggled to contain Texas' rushing attack Saturday as Oklahoma was blown out in the Red River Rivalry, and the loss of Phillips will only make things harder for the team moving forward.

Phillips had seven tackles on the year, with two for a loss, but was a massive space-eater on the inside. The two most likely replacements are freshman Jordan Wade, who has six tackles and a sack this season, and junior college transfer Quincy Russell, who has three tackles. Both were former four-star prospects.
