Franklin was previously rumored to be out up to six weeks with the shoulder injury, suffered against Georgia in the Tigers’ historic upset victory Saturday. Freshman Maty Mauk took over for Franklin, and completed three of three passes for 23 yards.
After struggling to adapt to SEC play last season, Franklin is having a career year for the undefeated Tigers. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns against only three interceptions, and run for three more scores.
Franklin will definitely miss the Tigers’ next three games for sure, and those are some rough ones — Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. He could return for the Nov. 9 showdown at Kentucky, but it’s more likely Pinkel will wait until after the ensuing bye week to play him at Ole Miss, if Franklin is available. After the game against the Rebels, the Tigers close out the regular season with a matchup against Texas A&M.
