Georgia RB Todd Gurley likely out against Vanderbilt

The star sophomore will probably miss his third game in a row.

Georgia running back Todd Gurley is expected to miss his third consecutive game with a high ankle sprain, as Mark Richt said the Bulldogs are preparing to play against Vanderbilt without their star, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

Gurley first suffered the injury in the Bulldogs’ 44-41 win over LSU, and missed the following overtime win over Tennessee and last week’s blowout loss to Missouri. He still leads the team with 71 carries for 450 yards and four touchdowns.

With backup Keith Marshall also out with an injury, J.J. Green should see most of Georgia's carries against Vanderbilt Saturday. The freshman has 34 carries for 281 yards and a score this year.

Gurley exploded onto the scene last year as a freshman, rushing for 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns. Georgia has seen a rash of injuries impact its skill players this year, and Gurley’s return will be a welcome one for the offense.
