Georgia vs. Vanderbilt 2013 final score: Commodores come back to bite Dawgs, 31-27

The Commodores secured their first win in Nashville over Georgia in 22 years on Saturday, coming back late to spring the upset at home.

The Vanderbilt Commodores continued a crazy season in the SEC East in 2013, upsetting the Georgia Bulldogs at home, 31-27.

Things looked pretty even early, as the two teams exchanged scores to make it 14-10 in the second quarter. Things looked like they turned in favor of Georgia when Shaq Wiggins intercepted Austyn Carta-Samuels on an attempted trick play and brought it back for a touchdown. Aaron Murray rushed for another touchdown right before halftime to make it 24-14, and it just kind of felt like Georgia had things under control.

As it would turn out, they didn't. The Commodores erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter, retaking the lead on a 13-yard touchdown rush from Jerron Seymour with less than three minutes remaining. Georgia had one last chance with the ball with only 14 seconds left, but it just wasn't enough time for Aaron Murray to put together a touchdown drive.

The typically high-powered Georgia offense has been ruined by injuries, and they were not in vintage form on Saturday. Aaron Murray finished with only 104 yards, no touchdowns, and a pick, and the team averaged only 3.5 yards per carry on the day.

Box Score Hero:

This game didn’t exactly feature an offensive explosion, but Jerron Seymour rushed for two touchdowns and churned out 71 tough yards.

Rankings Ramifications:

Georgia came into the game ranked 15th in the AP poll and 16th in the USA Today poll, so they are going to take a big tumble down the rankings.

But Did They Cover?

The Dawgs were 6.5 point favorites at kickoff, so no, they didn’t cover.
