The Oklahoma State Cowboys defeated TCU on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 24-10 win to improve to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
TCU vs. Oklahoma State 2013 final score: Cowboys pick up 24-10 win
It wasn’t pretty, but the Cowboys picked up a big conference win on Saturday.
Even with the win, the story of the game was Oklahoma State's quarterback troubles. J.W. Walsh started the game but was pulled in favor of Clint Chelf after throwing two interceptions. Chelf was not incredibly impressive either -- he completed 10-of-25 passes for 178 yards and an interception -- but the Cowboys did seem to move the football much better when he was on the field.
Oklahoma State took an early 7-0 lead on a 95-yard punt return from Josh Stewart. Ben Grogan added on a 28-yard field goal midway through the second quarter, and then Desmond Roland rushed the ball into the end zone from three yards out to give OSU a 17-0 lead before half.
Still down 17 midway through the second half, TCU's offense woke up a bit and cut the deficit to 17-10. Oklahoma State answered, though, as Rennie Childs rushed in from seven yards outs to all-but-end any chance the Horned Frogs had at making a comeback.
Box Score Hero (and zero):
OSU: Josh Stewart: 10 receptions, 141 yards
TCU: Trevone Boykin: 17-for-35, 188 yards, 0 TD, 3 interceptions
Rankings Ramifications: The Cowboys came in ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll and could move up a spot or two depending on how the rest of the top-20 fares.
But Did They Cover? Oklahoma State came in as a seven-point favorite, so they covered the spread with ease.
