UCLA LB Eric Kendricks taken to hospital with kidney pain

The Bruins’ star linebacker left for tests at halftime.

UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks was taken from the UCLA locker room to Stanford Hospital at halftime of the Bruins' game against the Cardinal with reports of kidney pain.

Kendricks left the field briefly in the second quarter, but returned to the game later in the half. There is no further word on his current condition at this time.

Kendricks is in his second year as a full-time starter for the Bruins defense. He led the Pac-12 in tackles in 2012 with 150, the most recorded by a UCLA defender since 1978. Kendricks was named Lott IMPACT Player of the Week after recording 13 tackles and an interception against Utah two weeks ago.

UCLA trails Stanford 3-0 early in the third quarter.
