West Virginia, Clemson ADs reportedly likely on College Football Playoff committee

The selection committee for the playoff begins to take shape.

West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck and Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich are each expected to be named to the College Football Playoff’s selection committee, via CBS Sports.

The committee will include a current athletic director from each of the current automatic qualifying conferences, which would make Luck and Radakovich the representives from the Big 12 and ACC, respectively. Luck is rumored to be a potential replacement for Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds, but as that would be a move within the conference, it is unlikely to affect his potential candidacy.

We know a few things about the committee already -- it is expected to have between 12 to 18 members and will release regular rankings, likely to be televised. The committee will not only choose the four teams that will play in the College Football Playoff, but will also rank teams playing in the other major bowls (meaning 12 in total).

The College Football Playoff will begin after the 2014 season, with two semi-final games rotating between a group of six bowl games -- the Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl and Fiesta Bowl. The winners of the two semi-final games will play in the national title game, and eight cities are fighting over bids for the game.
